Pathologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor. He was born on November 7, 1964 in the city of Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where he graduated from high school in 1982 and entered the medical faculty of the Dnipropetrovsk Medical Institute. In 1988 he graduated from DMI. In 1991 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Hemomicrocirculatory bed of the human heart in pre- and early postnatal ontogenesis." Since 1994 - Associate Professor at the Department of Anatomy of the State Dnieper Medical Academy. In 1995 he received the academic title of associate professor, and in 1997 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Structural and functional characteristics of histogenetic processes in the mammalian myocardium at the stages of early ontogenesis." From 1999 to 2015 - Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the State Institution "State Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine". In 2001, he was awarded the academic title of professor. In 2001, he organized the department of immunomorphological diagnosis of human tumors. During this time, IHC studies of more than 50 thousand were conducted. Complex diagnostic cases of cancer patients. The priority scientific direction of Professor Shponki I. S. is the definition of diagnostic and prognostic criteria for the course of tumors with different localization. In 2017, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Igor Stanislavovich was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”; For the introduction of highly effective diagnostic approaches in science and practical medicine, he was repeatedly awarded with Honorary Diplomas of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration. Under the guidance of Professor I. S. Shponka, a doctoral and 11 doctoral dissertations were completed, two doctoral and one doctoral dissertations were carried out. At this time, his students work in leading specialized laboratories in the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland. I. S. Shponka is the author of 167 scientific works, among them 7 monographs, 2 national textbooks (co-authored), one discovery, 12 patents for a utility model, 2 information letters, two guidelines, two applications for an invention. Combines scientific and educational work with organizational and social activities as the first vice-rector of the State Institution "Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine"; member of the dissertation council D08.601.03 of the Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine; member of the dissertation council D17.600.04 of Zaporizhzhya State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and member of the problem committee; Head of the Department of Immunomorphology, Diagnostic Center of the Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy; member of the editorial board of the official electronic scientific professional journal "Morphology" of the All-Ukrainian public organization "Scientific Society of Anatomists, Histologists, Embryologists and Topographical Anatomists of Ukraine", the scientific and practical professional journal "Pathology" and the journal "Medical Perspectives".
